General Health Measures
In all matters of health, CBE takes direction from Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. Find out how you can reduce the spread and lessen the impact of illness in school communities.
Routine Immunizations
The CBE supports the AHS school-based immunization program.
Attendance Line: 403-777-6840
Press 1 For the attendance line to report a late or absent.
Press 2 For lunch supervision to advise if your child will be out for lunch or will drop in.
Press 0 For the main office to speak with a staff member.
In the event of student absence, the parent/guardian is asked to call the school and leave a message. Please leave the following information:
- name of student(s)
- grade(s)
- teacher(s)
- reason for absence or lateness
- length of absence if known
It is important that the school has a complete list of all emergency contacts and authorized guardians for your child. Please contact our office to make changes or to ensure we have your most current contact information.
Medical Conditions
Please inform the school if your child has any medical condition and/or requires medications while at school. If a child needs any prescriptions dispensed at school there must be a doctor’s signed Student Health Plan form on file at the school. You can pick up this form at the school office or on the CBE Forms You Need page.
School Nurse
The focus of our community health nurse is immunization, audio and vision screening. Other duties include counselling on request and teaching programs.
Our school nurse can be contacted at the Calgary Health Region, South District Office, phone 403-943-9100, or through Deer Run School.
Allergies
Deer Run School is a nut aware school. We ask that no nuts or nut butter be brought into the school or on field trips. Teachers will make you aware of specific food allergies in your child’s class if you are supplying any snacks or treats.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Lice
There may be times during the school year when we have cases of head lice.
If your child has head lice, please contact the school and let us know. If your child has been exposed to lice at school we will notify you.
As a precaution, we ask all parents to check their child’s head frequently for a few weeks after any exposure. You can find more information on lice from myhealth.alberta.ca.
