In order to address safety and security issues, all parents and visitors must report to the front office when arriving at the school.
Supervision Schedule
Supervision is provided by school staff on the playground between:
- 8:05 AM – 8:20 AM
- 11:48 AM – 12:20 PM(lunch supervisors supervise students registered in the lunch program)
- 12:20 PM – 12:35 PM
Students who arrive at school early, before 8:05 AM and 12:20 PM are arriving to an unsupervised environment. In the
interests of safety, students are expected to remain at home until the playground is appropriately supervised. It is expected students will go directly home or to the daycare immediately after dismissal. Visits to other student’s homes, extra curricular activities, etc. should be arranged at home before students leave for school. Parents are responsible for students going to and from school. It is expected students go directly home after dismissal from school at 3:00 PM Monday – Thursday and at 12:30 PM on Fridays
Entrance and Exit Locations
Entrance and exit locations for children are located at the back of the school (southeast and southwest doors). These doors have been assigned with safety in mind. Parents picking up their children should choose an outside area near these exit locations.
Late Student Arrival
All doors to the school will be locked after school commences each day. Students arriving after the 8:20 AM entry bell should enter the school through the front door. Late students will need to check in at the office for a late record.
Early Dismissal
A student may not leave the school prior to regular dismissal times without permission. Students needing to leave for medical or dental appointments or other reasons must bring a note or the parent must contact the school requesting early dismissal. Students may not go home until someone in authority is contacted to give permission.
Student Sign Out Procedure
When picking up students for appointments during school hours, parents/guardians need to sign students out from the office.
- Parents should only enter the school through the main front doors.
- Please report to the office to meet your child.
- Our office staff will contact the classroom teacher who will have the child meet you at the office.
Emergency School Closure
In the event of an emergency school closure, children will be sent home only if we can confirm by telephone fan-out that an adult is at home to receive the child. If the need arises to vacate the school, all students and staff will move to the predetermined muster point. Please see your School Handbook for details.
Lockdowns
All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.
Evacuation Procedures
In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
Video Surveillance Technology
The Calgary Board of Education may install and use video surveillance technology at select schools to support maintaining a safe and secure environment and to help control vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
Personal information gathered by video surveillance is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) section 33(b). The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
This technology is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff.
Approval, installation and use of video surveillance technology will comply with Administrative Regulation 1066.
For questions or concerns, please contact the school principal.
