A huge thank you to the Deer Run School Council for bringing in Paul Davis to discuss internet safety with students and parents. Although we had a small gathering of parents for the evening presentation, the parents that were there expressed how informative they felt the night had been.
Top take aways from the student and parent presentation are:
1. Social Media platforms are NOT for children under the age of 13.
2. Too much, too soon! Say, NO... you are the parent.
3. NO phone, tablets in bedrooms. You need to see what your child is doing and who they are interacting with.

The next School Council meeting will be on OCTOBER 9, 2024 at 6:00PM at the school. All parents are encouraged to attend so that you can be part of the decisions and be in the know at Deer Run School.

Deer Run School will run the annual Terry Fox run on Monday September 23, 2024 at 2:15PM. All families are welcome to join us in the field at this time. We are asking each student to bring a toonie or two as we try to raise $1000 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Orange Shirt Day
All students are invited to wear an orange shirt on Thursday September 26, 2024. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is on September 30, 2024. All CBE families are invited to ceremonies being held at Confluence Park (formally known as Fort Calgary) to commemorate Indian residential school victims, honor survivors and their families, and commit to acting on reconciliation. This will take place from 9:00AM until 10:30AM. City of Calgary will be hosting many community events on this day as well. More information can found at: www.calgary.ca.
