Winter Clothing Support
If you anticipate needing support in securing winter clothing (jacket, snow pants, mittens, hat) for your child(ren) this upcoming season, please let us know. Through Jacket Racket, gently used winter items are available for families in need. Clothing will be provided on November 26, 2025 to families who have expressed interest. Please note that families cannot access this program directly; requests must come through the school. To participate, email deerrun@cbe.ab.ca with your child’s name and required sizes.

Alternatively, if you have gently used winter gear to donate, we would be grateful. Donations will go directly to other families in our Deer Run School community. Thank you for supporting our school community. Truly, it takes a village!

Food Allergies
A reminder that some Deer Run School staff and students have severe (anaphylactic) allergies to all nuts, including peanut butter. For everyone’s safety, please do not send any food items containing nuts in your child’s lunch or snacks.

Absences/Lates from School
Please phone the absence line or email deerrun@cbe.ab.ca if your student will be late or absent. Remember to include the reason for the absence or late arrival.

Terry Fox Run
Thank you to all the families who joined us for the annual Terry Fox Run. Students loved the encouragement from bystanders as they ran the loop. As a school, we raised $435.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation

Orange Shirt Day
Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt on Friday, September 26, 2025, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day, observed on September 30th, honors the survivors, families, and communities affected by Canada’s residential school system. It is a time to reflect on this painful history, listen to Indigenous voices, and commit to ongoing education and reconciliation.

  • September 30, 2025 – All schools closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
